This study examines the concept of self-love in strengthening mental health from an Islamic counseling perspective through a contemporary literature review. The study employs a qualitative library research design with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained from relevant scientific literature discussing self-love, self-compassion, Islamic psychology, religious coping, Islamic counseling, and Islamically integrated psychological interventions. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify conceptual patterns, normative foundations, empirical evidence, and practical implications for counseling practice. The findings indicate that Islamic self-love differs from narcissism, selfishness, and excessive self-indulgence because it is grounded in human dignity, gratitude, self-acceptance, self-care, spiritual responsibility, and accountability before Allah. Self-love is closely associated with shukr, qana'ah, muhasabah, tawakkal, and taqwa. Contemporary evidence also suggests that Islamically integrated interventions can strengthen self-compassion and support psychological well-being when they are culturally sensitive and consistent with clients' religious values. Therefore, Islamic counseling can position self-love as a therapeutic resource that integrates psychological well-being, spiritual awareness, moral responsibility, and healthy interpersonal relationships.
